Day 228 – Unplug to Reconnect

Day 228 – Unplug to Reconnect

“Almost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes… including you.” —Anne Lamott

Two days in a row now, the fight’s been heavier than usual.

It’s not just the quiet moments—it’s what fills them. The thoughts, the longing, the memories, the endless spiral of trying to move forward while something inside keeps pulling you back. Yesterday, I wanted to drink. Today, I still feel that pull. Not because I want to numb out, but because sometimes the weight is just too much.

So I did the only thing I knew to do.

I unplugged.

I stepped away from the noise, the distractions, the pressures. I did some yard work. Then I drove into the mountains—not looking for some profound realization, just looking to breathe. And for a few moments, I did.

This isn’t a post about healing or overcoming. It’s not about triumph.

It’s about recognizing when you need to step back before the spiral pulls you under. It’s about admitting that even after 228 days, sobriety is still a battle. That healing isn’t linear. That just because you’re doing better doesn’t mean it’s easy.

Today, I didn’t fix everything.

But I unplugged.

And for now, that’s enough.

One Step. One Punch. One Round.🌹
