Day 208: Embracing the Unconventional

Day 208: Embracing the Unconventional

“The only way to stay sane is to go a little crazy.” —Unknown

Reflecting on the past 208 days, this journey has certainly taken me through the realms of ‘a little crazy.’ From the solitude of the RV to today’s venture into oil painting, each step has been about finding new ways to channel my thoughts and emotions. Yes, today I picked up a brush instead of turning on my computer to create AI art—embracing the tangible feel of paint and the unpredictable sways of the brush on canvas.

Oil painting is new territory for me. I’ve never considered myself someone who can draw, let alone paint, yet here I am, dabbling in colors and forms, enjoying the sheer unpredictability of it. It’s strangely freeing to engage in something where the outcome isn’t predetermined by algorithms or previous experience. Each stroke is a discovery, each color mix a small rebellion against the structured digital creations I’m used to.

This ‘little crazy’ isn’t just about today. It’s a metaphor for the entire post-RV journey. Whether it’s tackling physical isolation, confronting long-held fears, or picking up a paintbrush instead of a keyboard, it’s all been part of a broader quest to redefine my boundaries and explore new facets of myself.

So today, as I mess around with oil paints, not striving for perfection but for expression, I realize that going a little crazy is not just about whimsy—it’s about growth. It’s about stepping out of the defined lines of my past self and into a space where I can be free to experiment, to make mistakes, and to discover new passions.

And yes, I had my usual coffee this morning—some things don’t change, but it’s the new experiences we weave into the fabric of our daily lives that add color and depth to our existence. Here’s to embracing a bit of the unconventional, to learning new ways of expressing and understanding ourselves, and to acknowledging that sometimes, the best way to stay sane is indeed to allow ourselves a little craziness.
